About Us
When I bought my first home 20 years ago, I wasn’t a gardener. I just wanted tidy, low-maintenance spaces that looked good with minimal effort. That all changed when time spent with my grandma, and later my best friend Sophia, opened my eyes to the colour, peace, and healing found in gardens.
Sophia’s love of the fantail (pīwakawaka) and her own beautiful garden became the inspiration behind Tui & the Fantail. What began as my therapy soon became my purpose - creating calm, colourful spaces that bring joy to others.
Before starting Tui & the Fantail, I spent more than two decades as a professional hairdresser, where creativity, precision, and genuine care for people were at the heart of my work. That experience shaped how I approach gardens today - with an eye for design, a strong attention to detail, and a deep understanding of how spaces can make people feel.
Meet our Tui - one of the inspirations for our name.
I’m also currently studying Horticulture adding formal knowledge to my hands-on experience. This study helps me blend creative intuition with practical understanding - ensuring every space I design not only looks beautiful but thrives long-term.
My clients describe me as hardworking, reliable, and easy to work with. I take pride in bringing energy and care to every job, whether it’s transforming a tired garden, refreshing a home’s entranceway, or styling an interior space to feel calm and inviting.
Every project is personal to me. I pour thought, heart and effort into everything I do - helping people find peace, pride, and a little bit of magic in their surroundings.
